Awesome Art!
What a fantastic week we have had!
This week has been packed with creativity and discovery! During Art Day on Monday, we explored the incredible work of William Burges, the architect behind many of Cardiff Castle’s ornate rooms. Inspired by his Gothic and Victorian designs, we created our own decorative ceilings, experimenting with patterns, colour, and symmetry. We also sketched famous Welsh castles such as Cardiff Castle, Caerphilly Castle, and Castell Coch, paying attention to their unique features like towers, battlements, and moats. To finish, we let our imaginations run wild by designing our own castles, blending elements of medieval strength with fairytale elegance. We also published our websites about Cardiff Castle!
In Literacy, we began our exciting journey into newspaper writing, learning how to craft attention-grabbing headlines and informative reports. We also completed our Cardiff Castle websites and carried out evaluations to reflect on what worked well and what could be improved.
In Science, we concluded our investigation on light, discussing how reflections and shadows behave and what our results taught us. Finally, for our final inquiry project we started planning our Castle Podcast, which will showcase everything we’ve learned this term. It’s been a week full of creativity, critical thinking, and collaboration!
