Homework 24th October

Homework due on Wednesday 5th November.
Inquiry Task - Our War Stories
This week, and over half term, we’d like you to find out whether your family, friends or neighbours have any stories or memories connected to World War II or to other wars or conflicts since then.
It might be a story about:
-
a great grand-parent that served in the war
-
a family member who was evacuated, rationed or worked on the Home Front
-
someone who moved to or from another country because of war
-
a person who helped others during conflict — such as a nurse, factory worker, or volunteer
-
someone who remembers how their town or community was affected
-
someone who served in the armed forces more recently
Remember: not all stories are about fighting — some are about courage, kindness, survival and hope.
What you need to do
-
Talk to someone at home: a parent, grandparent, carer, neighbour or family friend.
-
Ask if they know of any real stories about war in your family or community.
-
If they don’t, you could ask about how your family remembers wars (e.g., Remembrance Day, medals, photos).
-
-
Gather your information
-
Write down what the person tells you, or record a short interview (with permission).
-
You could take a photo of any items, medals or letters (but please handle them carefully!).
-
-
Create your “War Story”.
You can choose how to present your work — be as creative as you like!
You might choose to:-
Make a poster or fact file
-
Create a PowerPoint or Google Slides presentation
-
Record an audio or video interview
-
Write a report in your homework book
-
Make a scrapbook page
-
Please also see assigned Mathletics tasks and learn this week's spellings. Don't forget to keep reading over half term!
