What an exciting week we’ve had in Year 2 and 3!

Presenting our Celtic warriors!!
On Monday, we had a fantastic ‘Jump In’ Day when we explored life in Celtic times. In the morning, the children designed and created their very own Celtic shields. They thought carefully about the patterns, colours and symbols that the Celts might have used to decorate and protect themselves.
In the afternoon, things got a little bit messy (and lots of fun!) when the children worked in groups to make ‘wattle and daub’ walls, just like the Celts would have built for their roundhouses. Everyone showed amazing teamwork as they wove the ‘wattle’ together before covering it with the ‘daub’. Afterwards, the children used their writing skills to create clear sets of instructions explaining how to make the walls step by step.
In Maths, we have been learning all about pounds and pence, building on our place value knowledge. The children have been brilliant at recognising coins and notes, and working out different amounts of money.
Next week is set to be just as busy and exciting! We will be:
- Adding and subtracting money in Maths.
- Writing our very own Celtic fact files in Literacy.
- Discovering the Celtic names for places in Wales in Topic.
We can’t wait to continue our Celtic journey together!
Reminder!! - On Friday 17th October it is 'Show Racism the Red Card'. For this we will be asking children to wear red. Thank you for your support.
