Number Detectives

Learning Objective Practise writing numbers the right way around.

Instructions for children (with parent support):

  1. Choose 3 numbers you are practising at school (e.g. 2, 5, 7).
  2. Become a Number Detective – can you find those numbers at home or outside? (on doors, clocks, food packets, buses, car number plates, etc.).
  3. Each time you spot one, write it down carefully in your best number writing.
    • Reception: Write the number big and bold 3 times.
    • Year 1: Write the number neatly 5 times, then try writing it in a short number sentence (e.g. 5 + 1 = 6).
  4. Make it fun: You can write with crayons, chalk, in sand/flour, or with water and a paintbrush outside!
