Friday 27th June

Dear Parents and Carers,

What a busy and exciting time it has been at Llangan Primary School! I wanted to take a moment to share some of the fantastic things happening across our school, along with some important information for the term ahead.

🌟 Class Structure 2025–26

Next academic year, there will be a slight change to our class structure. From September, Nursery will be a separate class based in the Cwtch, and we will have three single-year group classes. This is to accommodate the 10 new pupils joining us — I’m sure you will all join me in offering a warm welcome to these new pupils and their families as they become part of our Llangan community.

Here’s the class structure for 2025–26:

Year Group Class Name Teacher(s) Support
Nursery Dosbarth Gwenynen Mrs Stevens Miss Davies
Reception / Year 1 Dosbarth Pili Pala Miss Llewellyn (3 days) / Miss Hughes (2 days) Mrs Woodward (HLTA), Mrs Jones, Mrs J Jones
Year 2 / 3 Dosbarth Tylluan Eira Mrs L Jarman-Davies Mr Rees
Year 4 Dosbarth Draenog Mr Howles Mrs Jones (interventions)
Year 5 Dosbarth Mochyn Daear Miss Spiller
Year 6 Dosbarth Llwynog Mrs Heavyside & Mrs Antoniou

Our wrap-around Nursery provision will continue in the afternoons, supported by Miss Davies.

📝 Parent Survey 2024

Your views really matter to us. Our annual Parent Survey helps us understand what’s working well and where we can do better. If you haven’t already done so, please take a few moments to complete the survey — your feedback helps shape our school.

🌾 Farmer’s Market Success!

On Friday, children across the school put their learning about farming, food production, and enterprise into practice at our Farmer’s Market.

A huge well done to all of our children for their brilliant enterprise skills and hard work creating everything we sold — we’re so proud of their effort, creativity, and teamwork. Thank you to all the parents, grandparents, and families who came along to support the event — you helped make it such a success!

Each class will now decide how to spend their profits on projects that matter to them.

🛍️ Here’s what was on offer:
🍦 Nursery & Reception – Ice Creams & Eton Mess (£2)
🍓 Year 1 & 2 – Fresh Fruit Smoothies (£2)
🌿 Year 3 – Herb Bouquets (£1.50), Wildflower Bouquets (£5), Veg Boxes (£15)
🍪 Year 4 – Flapjacks (£1)
🍓 Year 5 & 6 – Homemade Jam (Small £3.50 / Large £4.50)

🍓 Year 3 Strawberry Farm Visit

Year 3 enjoyed a fascinating (and at times, infuriating!) trip to Springfield Strawberry Farm in Llandow — one of only two industrial-scale strawberry farms in Wales.

They were amazed to learn the farm grows over 570 tonnes of strawberries from 375,000 plants each year, using sustainable methods like biological pest control, bee pollination, and coconut husk compost.

🔬 Mad Science Visit

This week, our friends from Mad Science delivered a “chemically fantastic” assembly to spark excitement ahead of workshops in September. Don’t forget to sign up if you’d like to take part!
