What's the time Pili-Pala?
This week in Pili-Pala, our learning has revolved around the concept of time. We’ve been learning about the different times of the day and the daily routines that go along with them. Using visual timetables and discussions, the children have shared what they do in the morning, afternoon, and evening. We also explored how to tell the time using an analogue clock. We have been learning to recognise and read o'clock and half past times. We brought this learning to life in our outdoor area with a lively game of “What’s the Time, Mr Wolf?”, where the ‘wolf’ had to correctly set the time on the clock before anyone could move forward!
Building on our visits to Penllyn Estate and Ty Tanglwyst Farm, we created our very own 'day in the life of a farmer.' We thought carefully about what a farmer does at different times of the day; from collecting eggs in the early morning to feeding animals at lunchtime, and finishing up with tractor work in the afternoon. We used our knowledge of time to sequence these events and challenged ourselves with drawing the correct time onto our analogue clocks.
To top off an already brilliant week, we ended with a very special event: our school Sports Day! The children showed teamwork and determination in every race. It was wonderful to see the encouragement they gave each other and the pride they took in doing their best. Thank you to all the families who came to support!
