Tylluan Eira – Week Beginning 12th May

This week has been a little different in Dosbarth Tylluan Eira as we've been taking part in assessment activities. Our Year 2 pupils have shown great focus and determination as they worked through their tasks – we’re really proud of the effort they’ve all put in. Year 1 have also completed some assessments but enjoyed plenty of time outdoors too, making the most of the sunshine and space to explore and learn in active ways.

In maths, we’ve been getting to grips with the concept of giving change – a tricky idea, but the children have worked hard using coins and role-play scenarios to help them understand. It’s been lovely to see their confidence grow!

In literacy, we’ve continued our work on instruction writing. We’ve looked closely at what makes a good set of instructions, focusing particularly on using time connectives like “first,” “next,” and “finally.” The children are starting to spot these in everyday texts and are beginning to include them in their own writing too.

Our Inquiry work has taken us back to the farm, as we looked carefully at fruit and vegetables and had a go at drawing them with detail and care. We also created some brilliant farm posters, combining facts and creativity to show what we’ve learned so far.

Well done to everyone for another brilliant week. The children continue to impress us with their enthusiasm, resilience and creativity. Have a lovely weekend!
