Not more Fractions!

Dosbarth Llwynog - 1.10.26

It has been another busy, productive week in Year 6! The pupils have worked hard to bring several key learning units to a close while diving into exciting new mathematical and historical concepts.

Literacy: Narrative Thrillers Complete Our pupils have officially wrapped up their Narrative Thriller journey! They have put the finishing touches on their suspenseful stories, brilliantly weaving in elements of their local Cynefin to give their writing an authentic, atmospheric setting.

Maths: Finishing Fractions & Starting Ratio

  • Fractions Mastered: We concluded our comprehensive unit on fractions, with the children successfully applying all four operations (addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division).

  • New Topic – Ratio: We have now introduced the concept of ratio, exploring how quantities compare to one another through practical problem-solving.

Inquiry: Data Analysis & Factory Innovation Our Industrial Revolution enquiry continues to blend history and practical skills:

  • Population Data: The pupils critically analysed historical population data sets, translating their findings into accurate bar charts and fractional representations.

  • Industrial Electricity: We investigated how the development and introduction of electricity in factories transformed working conditions and boosted productivity.

Thank you for your ongoing support! Have a peaceful and restful weekend.
