What a fantastic week of learning!

This week, we have jumped straight into our new topic: “How do important people change the world?” We have started by learning all about Aneurin Bevan, a very important person from Wales who helped to change healthcare for millions of people.

We found out that Aneurin Bevan was a Welsh politician who played a key role in creating the National Health Service (NHS) in 1948. We have been fascinated to learn about how his ideas and determination helped to make healthcare available to everyone, regardless of how much money they had. We have been thinking about what makes someone an important person and how one person’s actions can have a lasting impact on the world. 

Our Writing Journey

We have also begun an exciting new writing journey. We are going to be writing our very own biographies about Aneurin Bevan. This week, we have started to gather information, learn about his life and think about the important events that shaped him. We are looking forward to using everything we have learned to create some fantastic biographies!

Maths

In Maths, we have been developing our understanding of addition. We have been practising different strategies and methods to help us solve addition problems accurately. We have enjoyed challenging ourselves and explaining how we worked out our answers. 

Building Our Own Hospitals

Our learning about Aneurin Bevan has even inspired our construction area! We have been busy designing and building our very own hospitals. We have worked together to create imaginative hospital spaces, thinking carefully about what a hospital needs and how different areas might be used.

There has been lots of teamwork, creativity, problem-solving and fantastic conversation taking place as we have built and played. 

Rocksteady Music Workshop

We have also had lots of fun this week with a Rocksteady assembly and workshop! 

We learned all about what it is like to be in a band and explored some of the different instruments that musicians can play. We enjoyed listening, joining in and finding out how all of the different instruments work together to create music.

It has certainly been a busy week, filled with history, writing, maths, creativity, construction and music!
