We have had another busy week in Dosbarth Pili-Pala, filled with stories, creativity and exploring our Cynefin! 

On Monday, we marked Roald Dahl Day, and our enhanced provision and COOL challenges throughout the week have been inspired by some of his much loved stories and characters. The children have created colourful dream jars inspired by The BFG, designed their own weird and wonderful Willy Wonka sweets using different colours, patterns and materials, and became inventors in our construction area, designing machines for Willy Wonka's Chocolate Factory. They tested different tubes, ramps and pathways to see if they could successfully transport a sweet through their inventions!

The Enormous Crocodile has also kept us very busy. The children used playdough to create their own crocodiles before developing their measuring skills by using cubes and rulers to investigate their lengths. In our maths area, they estimated and measured different crocodiles, ordered them from shortest to longest and compared their measurements. In writing, we discovered that the Enormous Crocodile was on the loose! The children created wanted posters, using descriptive vocabulary and sentences to make sure everyone knew exactly who to look out for. 

Mr Twit's disgusting beard made an appearance...Using tweezers, the children carefully rescued and sorted objects hidden inside his beard before using them to create and continue repeating patterns. 

We have also been learning about the Welsh word Cynefin and what it means to feel connected to the places where we belong. We became Cynefin Detectives and went on a walk around our school, carefully looking for and recording different items we could find. Back in the classroom, we recorded our findings in our books and looked closely at old photographs of our school, discussing what has changed over time and what has stayed the same. We then explored a map of our school and labelled some of the familiar places and features we recognised from our walk.
