From rainforest stories to Welsh rainforests – another week full of discovery, creativity and perseverance in Year 2/3!

This week, we proudly completed our rainforest story writing journey. The children have worked incredibly hard over the past few weeks to plan, draft, edit and improve their stories before publishing them. Their final stories were all set in the rainforest and showcased some wonderful descriptive language and imaginative ideas. To finish the project, the children created their own front covers, making their books look like real published stories. We are so proud of the effort, creativity and determination they have shown throughout the writing process – they did an amazing job!

In Maths, we have been revising lines of symmetry. The children explored how to identify lines of symmetry in different shapes and practised completing symmetrical pictures. This was also the focus of our Maths Reasoning question this week. We found some of the challenges quite tricky, but everyone showed great perseverance and resilience. By working carefully and explaining our thinking, we were able to solve the problems successfully.

As part of our Inquiry learning, we discovered something very exciting – rainforests exist in Wales too! We explored Celtic rainforests and learnt about the unique plants, animals and habitats that can be found there. The children watched some amazing video footage and used what they learnt to help define what a Celtic rainforest is. It was fascinating to compare these special Welsh environments with the tropical rainforests we have been studying.

Our Year 3 pupils have also continued practising for the Summer Concert. They have been working hard to learn their songs and are looking forward to performing in the coming weeks.
