Extreme Weather Videos
It has been another incredibly busy and exciting week in Year 5!
This week, we took part in a Summer Fair Maths Challenge, working in groups to plan and manage budgets for different stalls and activities. We had to think carefully about costs, profit, and how to make the most of our money while still creating fun and successful ideas. It was a great way to use our maths skills in a real-life context and work collaboratively as a team.
We have also completed our final inquiry project of Year 5. For this project, we explored the experiences of children around the world who live in areas affected by extreme weather. We created our own short films using iMovie and Adobe, combining all of our knowledge and digital skills to produce some amazing and thoughtful videos. We are very proud of the creativity, teamwork, and effort shown by everyone.
In Literacy, we have now started our new writing journey focused on “how-to” guides. We are learning how to clearly explain instructions, including how to stay safe in different extreme weather situations. This links closely to our inquiry work and helps us think practically about safety and preparation.
In Health and Wellbeing, we have continued our learning about the importance of sleep. We have discussed how sleep affects our bodies, minds, learning, and overall wellbeing, and shared ideas about how to develop healthy sleep routines.
Alongside all of this, excitement is building as summer play rehearsals are now in full swing! We are working hard on our production of High School Musical, practising songs, dances, and scenes. The energy and enthusiasm from the children has been fantastic, and we cannot wait to perform it!
Well done Year 5 for another brilliant week of learning, creativity, and teamwork.
