A sporty week

This week in Year 2/3, we have been continuing our assessments in reading, spelling and numeracy. The children have coped really well with the testing and have worked hard to keep their focus throughout. We are very proud of everyone’s positive attitude and effort – well done everyone!

In Maths, we have been developing our problem-solving skills. The children have been working hard to solve multi-step problems, thinking carefully about each stage in order to find the correct answers. We have been practising how to read questions carefully, underline important information and decide which mathematical operations to use. The children have shown great perseverance when tackling more challenging problems and have been explaining their reasoning clearly to their partners and the class. It has been wonderful to see their confidence growing as they work through problems step by step and check that their answers make sense.

We also completed our rainforest collages from last week. Using magazines and different materials, the children created fantastic rainforest scenes, carefully showing the different layers of the rainforest. Their creativity and attention to detail have produced some wonderful pieces of artwork.

The week was rounded off with a wonderful day for Sports day 2026. There were sports activities for the children to enjoy in the morning followed by races in the afternoon. It was a sun filled day where the children had great fun representing their house. Well done to all the children who took part.

Year 3 – it is the time of year again when we are a part of the summer play. If you would like to audition to have a speaking role, the script and music is on our Google Classroom. The auditions will be held on Thursday 4th June.
