Another busy week in Llwynog!

This week in Dosbarth Llwynog we have been carrying out our summer assessments and testing for progress in Maths, Spelling and Reading. We are incredibly proud of the resilience, focus and determination shown by all pupils throughout the week.

In Maths, we have been developing our understanding of percentages and learning how to calculate percentage increases and decreases. We applied these skills to our inquiry work by investigating path erosion in National Parks. Using real-life data, we analysed how footpath erosion has increased over time and calculated percentage increases to help us understand the impact tourism can have on the environment.

In Literacy, we continued our instructional writing journey. We enjoyed a collaborative lesson where we compared a range of instructional texts, identifying their key features and discussing which examples were the most effective and why. Pupils used excellent reasoning and teamwork skills to justify their opinions.

As part of our inquiry work, groups confidently presented their collaborative presentations on threatened species in Bannau Brycheiniog. Pupils shared fantastic research, thoughtful ideas and important information about how wildlife and habitats are being protected.

In Welsh, we took part in exciting debates on the topic of football vs gaming! Pupils confidently used Welsh language patterns to express their opinions and challenge one another’s ideas. It was fantastic to see pupils speaking with such passion and confidence in Welsh.
