Why has it started to rain again?

14.5.26

What a sensational and action-packed week it has been for Dosbarth Draenog! From representing our school on the sports field to showing incredible resilience in the classroom, our pupils have given 100% to everything they’ve done.

Here is a look back at what we’ve been up to:

Going for Gold at the Cluster Olympics!

We kicked off the week with an absolute highlight—travelling to Y Bont Faen to compete in the Cluster Olympics! Dosbarth Draenog joined forces and competed alongside five other fantastic schools from our local area. It was wonderful to see our pupils demonstrating such brilliant sportsmanship, teamwork, and determination. You made us all incredibly proud!

Putting in the Hard Work

Back in the classroom, the children have shown fantastic focus as we worked our way through our assessments this week. Assessment weeks require a lot of concentration, and the resilience shown by every single member of the class was truly commendable. Bendigedig, pawb!

Welsh and Wellbeing: Wants, Needs, and Hobbies

In our Welsh sessions, we have been focusing on building our confidence in Welsh. We’ve been practising expressing ourselves by discussing our favourite hobbies and exploring the difference between our 'wants' and 'needs.' It’s been fantastic to hear the classroom buzzing with spoken Welsh!

Literacy: From Inspiring Biographies to Inbox Essentials

In Literacy, we reached a major milestone by finishing and editing our brilliant biography about the inspiring climate activist, Vanessa Nakate. The children did a wonderful job researching and polishing their writing.

With that chapter closed, we have already logged into our next journey: email writing! We’ve started exploring how to structure emails, think about our audience, and communicate effectively online.

Serving Up Our Best

Finally, we enjoyed our very last tennis lesson of the term. The children have developed some fantastic skills over the last few weeks, from perfecting their volleys to improving their court awareness.

These skills will certainly be put to good use as we spend the rest of the week preparing and practising for our big Sports Day next week!
