Week Beginning 4th May 2026

Marathons, Minibeasts and Meaningful Moments 🏃🌍🏅🐛

It has been another busy and memorable week in Dosbarth Pili-Pala filled with learning, teamwork and excitement.

This week, the children proudly took part in the Mini Marathon in aid of the amazing Velindre Cancer Centre. The children ran with enthusiasm, determination and huge smiles from start to finish, showing fantastic resilience and teamwork throughout the challenge. We are incredibly proud of every pupil for the effort and positivity they showed. A huge thank you to all of our families and friends for your kind sponsorship and support - it is greatly appreciated. The children truly demonstrated our theme of the term, Morality, through their kindness, encouragement and determination to support such an important cause.

In literacy, we have continued our writing journey. This week, the children focused on sharing facts about different animals, thinking carefully about their appearance, diet, habitat and other interesting information.

We have also been fascinated by our class caterpillars and have loved observing how much they are changing and growing each day. The children have been carefully watching them, discussing their movements and comparing how they look now to when they first arrived. We are all very excited to see how long it will be before they form their chrysalis 🐛

On Friday, we also commemorated the 100th birthday of David Attenborough by learning about his incredible work and influence on the natural world. The children watched clips from some of his documentaries, discussed the important role he has played in helping people understand and care for our planet, and created special birthday cards to celebrate his amazing contribution to nature and wildlife.
