Exciting learning across the curriculum!

In Maths, we have been focusing on measuring weight. The children have been learning to use both grams and kilograms and have been exploring how to read a range of different scales. They practised reading scales with different intervals, which challenged them to think carefully about what each mark represents. It has been fantastic to see their confidence grow throughout the week.

In English, we have continued our persuasive writing journey. This week, the children have been researching facts that they can use to support their ideas in posters and leaflets. They have been learning how important it is to include accurate, interesting information to help convince their reader. We have also been focusing on choosing powerful words and thinking about how to present information clearly and effectively.

Our Inquiry work has taken us to the rainforests of the world. The children have begun researching where rainforests are located, using maps and atlases to identify different regions around the globe. They were fascinated to learn about the different continents where rainforests can be found. As part of this topic, the children were given an exciting challenge: to decide what they would take on a rainforest expedition, but with a limited budget. They had to think carefully about what items would be essential for survival and exploration, making thoughtful choices and justifying their decisions. We had some brilliant discussions about needs versus wants! What would you take on a rainforest adventure?

In Welsh, we have continued our work on pets. The children have been practising asking and answering questions about what pets people have and how many. They have been working hard to build their confidence in speaking Welsh, using simple sentence patterns and listening carefully to each other.

A quick reminder that our mini marathon is taking place next Tuesday—we are all looking forward to it and hope the children are excited to take part!

Da iawn, everyone, for another fantastic week of learning! Have a great bank holiday weekend!
