First Week Back

Dosbarth Draenog - 17.4.26
I hope you all had a wonderful, restful Easter break and enjoyed plenty of sunshine and chocolate. It has been such a joy to see everyone’s smiling faces back in the classroom this week. We have a busy and exciting term ahead of us!
A Huge Thank-you!
Before we dived into our new learning, I wanted to say a massive thank you to all the children (and the grown-ups at home!) for the incredible effort put into our recent projects.
-
Pulley Models: The engineering skills on display were fantastic. Seeing how you applied force and motion to create working models was a real highlight.
-
Scratch Designs: Your coding creativity continues to blow me away! From interactive games to clever animations, you are becoming quite the programming experts.
What We’ve Been Up To This Week
Maths: Diving into Decimals
We’ve hit the ground running with our work on decimals. The class has been exploring how decimals relate to fractions and place value. We've been practising how to:
-
Identify tenths and hundredths.
-
Compare and order decimal numbers.
-
Link decimals to real-world contexts like money and measurement.
Literacy: Springtime Spirits
In our writing sessions, we have been celebrating the changing season by composing free verse poems about Spring. Unlike traditional poetry, we’ve been focusing on rhythm and imagery rather than worrying about rhyming. The children have used some beautiful metaphors to describe budding flowers and longer days.
Health and Wellbeing: Heart to Heart
This week, our focus has been on empathy and emotions. We’ve had some really thoughtful discussions about how to "walk in someone else's shoes" and how to recognise and manage our own feelings. It’s been wonderful to see the kindness and support the children show one another during these chats.
Reminders
-
PE Kits: Please ensure kits are in school every Tuesday
-
Reading Folders: Remember to bring these in daily so we can update your progress!
Thank you all for your continued support. Let’s make this summer term the best one yet!
