It has been lovely to welcome the children back after the Easter holidays, and we have had a very special start to the term with our whole-school 'Wise Up' week, focusing on Relationships, Health and Well-being.

Each day had a different focus, giving the children opportunities to explore important life skills. On Monday, we focused on wellbeing, talking about different feelings and what helps us feel calm and happy. The children created their own “calm jars,” thinking about what supports them when they feel upset, and practised slow breathing using their own breathing buddies, helping them understand how to calm their bodies.

On Tuesday, we explored independence, where the children created their own choice wheels. They used these to make decisions about activities, encouraging them to take ownership of their choices and talk about their decisions.

Wednesday’s focus was safety, where we discussed the important message that our bodies belong to us. The children learned about safe and unsafe touch and identified trusted adults they can talk to if they ever feel worried.

On Thursday, we looked at empathy, recognising how others might feel and how we can help. Through stories and role play, the children explored different emotions and shared kind ways to support others.

We ended the week by focusing on understanding and personal responsibility, learning that all families are different and that our choices can affect others. The children thought about positive behaviour and shared their own promises about making good choices.

It has been a thoughtful and meaningful week, helping the children to develop confidence, kindness and self-awareness. We are very proud of how maturely they engaged with these important topics.

A quick reminder that we have an upcoming trip on 29th April to Southerndown Beach to explore rock pooling. Please can you ensure you have given consent for your child to attend.
