Coming to the end of our Inquiry

Dosbarth Draenog - 19.3.26

It has been another incredibly busy and productive week in Year 4! The children have been working hard across all subjects, showing fantastic maturity in their learning and bringing some brilliant creative ideas to the classroom.

Here is a look at what we have been up to this week:

Crossing the Finish Line on Electric Cars We are coming to the end of our fascinating inquiry into electric cars, and what a journey it has been! The children have shown such a deep interest in sustainability, the environment, and the mechanics of how these vehicles work. It has been wonderful to see them grasping complex concepts about the future of transport and the impact we have on our planet.

Writing to Aston Martin Tying perfectly into our inquiry, our literacy focus this week has been on formal letter writing. The class is currently developing some highly professional letters addressed directly to the CEO of Aston Martin! We have been focusing on the features of formal writing—such as professional greetings, persuasive language, and structuring our paragraphs. The pupils are taking this very seriously, and I know the CEO would be incredibly impressed by their vocabulary and passion!

Fractions and Self-Reflection In maths, we have continued to tackle fractions. The children have been working hard on understanding equivalence, mixed numbers, and improper fractions.

However, the highlight of our maths work this week wasn't just solving equations—it was the reflection. We asked the pupils to look back through their work, choose the pieces they were most proud of, and explain why. Hearing them articulate their own learning process, recognize their mistakes, and celebrate their own progress was a genuinely proud teacher moment!

Upgrading Our Welsh Website Finally, we have put our digital and language skills to the test. The class was tasked with helping to make our school’s Welsh website more engaging and exciting for other pupils. They came up with some absolutely gwych (brilliant) ideas to make the site more interactive and user-friendly. It is great to see them taking such ownership of the Welsh language and finding ways to encourage the rest of the school to use it more often.

A Quick Reminder:
