From Puppets to Plants: A Week of Creativity and Discovery!
This week in Dosbarth Gwenynen we have had a very creative and exciting time in class!
At the beginning of the week, the children enjoyed two DT (Design and Technology) days, where they designed and made their own puppets. Each puppet will star in the personal stories the children are currently creating for our Jump Out Day, which will take place the week after next. The children loved choosing materials and bringing their characters to life.
We then continued the week with a science focus, exploring the question: “What do plants need?”
The children investigated this in many different ways, both indoors and outdoors. We have:
- Put daffodils in purple food colouring and are excitedly watching the changes happening over time.
- Made egg cress heads and are waiting to see the cress grow.
- ‘Planted’ bean seeds in a plastic bottle with tissue to investigate whether plants really need soil to grow.
- Explored what happens to coloured water when it is placed in an oil solution.
The children have really enjoyed being scientists this week, asking questions, making predictions and using scientific language during their investigations. It has been wonderful to see their curiosity and enthusiasm for learning.
We hope you have a lovely weekend.
