We have begun a new writing journey creating fictional stories. We are focusing on the skills of retelling a story, using a story as inspiration and writing stories as a follow on from a story we know.

*Beginning:

Retell a story that you know well. Remember to include all the important events and characters of the story. The story needs to be in your own words – imagine you’re telling a friend the story.

** Developing:

You are going to use a story you know well as the foundation for your creative story but make some adjustments to make it your own. For example, the character is going to be called Lucy, instead of Cinderella, and she is not going to travel in a horse drawn carriage, she will travel in a black taxi cab. 

So, you can keep the basic plot of the story but make some adjustments to make it your own.

*** Mastery: 

For this challenge you will need to write a short creative story, at least a page, about what comes next after a story which already exists. For example, Cinderella has got married and is living happily ever after – what happens next for her?
