We love books!

Dosbarth Draenog - 5.3.26

It has been an incredibly busy and exciting week in class! From immersing ourselves in magical stories to putting our engineering skills to the test, we have had a brilliant time learning across all our subjects. Here is a look at what we have been up to recently.

Celebrating World Book Day

Today was World Book Day, and the classroom was buzzing with excitement! We spent the day celebrating our absolute favourite stories and authors. Instead of our usual routine, we dove into a wide range of reading-themed activities. It was fantastic to see everyone sharing the books they love and discussing the characters that inspire them. The creativity and passion for reading in this class are truly wonderful to witness!

Electric Vehicles: The Great Debate

In our writing sessions, we have officially finished our debate pieces on Electric Vehicles. The class has worked incredibly hard over the last few weeks to research the topic, looking carefully at the environmental benefits as well as the current challenges.

The final written debates showcase:

  • Strong persuasive vocabulary

  • Well-researched facts and statistics

  • Clear arguments for and against the widespread use of electric cars

Science: Levers and Launching Catapults

In Science, we have been exploring the fascinating world of simple machines, with a specific focus on levers.

We learned all about the mechanics of how a lever works, identifying the fulcrum (the pivot point), the effort (the push or pull), and the load (the object being moved). To put this theory into practice, we rolled up our sleeves and engineered our very own catapults! It was a brilliant, hands-on way to see how moving the fulcrum changes the distance and power of our launches.

Forest School: Orienteering Adventures

Finally, we headed outside for Forest School, where we carried on with our orienteering unit. The class is getting much more confident at reading maps, understanding directional cues, and working as a team to navigate the outdoor space. Luckily, the weather held out for us, making it a perfect session for fresh air and active learning.
