Wonderful World Book Day!!
It has been a very busy and exciting week in our class!
We started the week by celebrating our Eisteddfod. The children performed Welsh songs and shared a poem all about Welsh sport and music. We also held an awards ceremony to celebrate the competitions everyone took part in. It was wonderful to see so many pupils showing their enthusiasm and pride in Welsh culture. Da iawn to everyone who took part!
During our numeracy lesson this week, we tackled a real-life problem linked to area and perimeter. The class worked together to help the CEO of Aston Martin calculate the cost of carpet and skirting boards for new offices in St Athan. The children had to carefully measure, calculate and problem-solve to work out the correct prices. They did a fantastic job applying their maths skills to a real-world scenario.
This week we also celebrated World Book Day, and what a fantastic day it was! The children came to school dressed in their pyjamas or as their favourite book characters. We enjoyed a cosy reading session with hot chocolate while snuggling up with our favourite stories.
Throughout the day we took part in lots of fun, book-themed activities. The children created Top Trump cards based on their favourite characters, designed their own bookmarks, and joined in with character draw-alongs to bring well-loved characters to life.
Miss Spiller also set us a special writing challenge. The children had to rewrite the blurb from their favourite book, but with a twist – it had to be either 200 words or 120 words exactly! This really challenged the class to think carefully about their word choices and summarising skills.
It has been a fantastic week full of creativity, learning and celebration. Well done to everyone for their hard work!
