Phew! Ready for half-term!

It has been another busy and productive week in Year 2/3, with the children showing great enthusiasm and effort across all areas of their learning.

In Maths, we have been focusing on fractions and developing our understanding of how numbers can be shared into equal parts. The children have been using practical resources to support their learning, as well as applying their knowledge of times tables to help them solve problems. We have been practising dividing by 2, 5 and 10, using both equipment and mental strategies to build confidence. Some learners have also been challenging themselves further by dividing two-digit numbers by a one-digit number. This has encouraged them to use their place value knowledge alongside their multiplication skills, and we have been very impressed with their determination and resilience when tackling more complex questions.

In Literacy, we have been working hard to complete our non-chronological reports. The children carefully edited and improved their writing, checking for spelling, punctuation and clear presentation. They showed great pride in their work as they published their final pieces. We ended the week by preparing them for display on our “Gwaith Gwych” wall, where we can celebrate the fantastic effort and creativity shown by everyone.

On Tuesday, we celebrated Safer Internet Day. We spent time discussing what it means to have a digital footprint and how the things we do online can leave a lasting mark. The children had thoughtful conversations about how to stay safe and be responsible when using the internet. To finish, each child created a pledge, promising ways they will use the internet safely and kindly. It was wonderful to see them taking this important topic seriously and sharing their ideas with one another.

Throughout the week, we have continued to build excitement around our Space topic. The children have shown great curiosity, asked thoughtful questions, and enjoyed linking their learning across different subjects.

It has been a full and enjoyable week, and a lovely way to round off the term. We are very proud of all the children and the effort they have put into their learning.

We hope you all have a happy, restful and well-deserved break!
