What a fantastic and action-packed week we’ve had in Year 2/3!
In Maths, we have been diving into the world of fractions. We explored how to find quarters of shapes and numbers, and even began looking at other fractions too. The children loved sharing shapes into equal parts and challenging themselves to work out fractions of different amounts — we were very impressed with their super thinking!
In Literacy, we proudly completed our Hot Task by writing non-chronological reports about space. The children chose their own exciting topics and produced some brilliant pieces of writing. We have learned all about planets, stars, galaxies and even space buggies! It has been wonderful to see their creativity shine and their confidence grow.
Our Topic lessons took us on a journey through time as we created a space travel timeline. We started with the very first rocket launched into space and travelled through history, learning about important milestones all the way to the recent successful mission to the far side of the moon. The class loved seeing how far space exploration has come!
In Science, we continued our learning about light by focusing on shadows. We had so much fun making shadow puppets, drawing around shadows and investigating how to make shadows bigger and smaller by moving closer to and further away from the light source. There were lots of exciting discoveries and plenty of curiosity in the classroom!
Next week is set to be just as exciting. We will be taking part in Children’s Mental Health Week and learning all about staying safe online for Safer Internet Day. To end the term in style, on Friday we will be joining in with the PTA Silent Dance-a-thon — a fun and fantastic way to celebrate all of our hard work!
