Dosbarth Llwynog – Class Blog 🦊 6.2.26

What a brilliant, busy week of learning we’ve had in Year 6!
In English, we explored both written and video examples of balanced arguments. We identified key features and created our success criteria, getting ourselves ready to plan and write our own balanced arguments next week. Pupils showed great critical thinking when spotting different viewpoints and explaining how writers try to persuade their audience.
In Maths, we continued our work on algebra. We formed equations, solved one-step and two-step problems, and found pairs of values. Pupils worked hard to explain their reasoning clearly, using mathematical language to justify their answers during reasoning tasks.
In Welsh, we worked creatively to design our own comic pages on the topic of ‘Gwyliau’ (holidays). We revised key vocabulary and language patterns and applied them in a fun, imaginative way. Da iawn to everyone for being brave with their Welsh and having a go!
Our Inquiry lessons were very hands-on this week as we carried out science investigations using paper planes. Pupils designed and tested different prototypes, recorded flight data and used their thinking hats to predict, explain, reason and problem-solve throughout the investigation. It was great to see such thoughtful scientific discussions.
In Outdoor Learning, teamwork was the focus as pupils worked in groups to build dens. The challenge was to make them windproof, rainproof and safe for everyone to fit inside. This really tested collaboration, communication and practical problem-solving skills.
A fantastic week of learning, creativity and teamwork – well done Dosbarth Llwynog! 👏
