  • Outdoor Learning Week 2026

    Published 21/03/26, by James Griffiths

We also celebrated National Outdoor Learning Week with a special visit from Owen Derbyshire, Chief Executive of Keep Wales Tidy. Pupils across the school took part in a range of outdoor activities, including gardening, Forest School, bee keeping and nature exploration. Outdoor learning remains a vital part of our curriculum, supporting the development of key skills, teamwork, confidence, and wellbeing, while helping children to connect meaningfully with the world around them. It was particularly pleasing to see our Pupil Minister for the Environment share the work of the Eco Committee, demonstrating strong pupil voice and leadership.

Year 2 had a fantastic outdoor learning adventure this week! The children worked together to move the old compost bin and explore the soil inside before getting creative and building their very own teepee — ready for a camp-out! 🩡

They then headed into our arboretum to make dens, explore the area and discover molehills, bird boxes and our beautiful Royal Oak trees. What a brilliant way to learn through teamwork, curiosity and adventure in the great outdoors. 🌳✨

It was such a pleasure to watch the pupils work together, solve problems and achieve what they achieved. Proud teacher
